Upcoming Projects

Alternative Theatre Company is a 501c3 nonprofit theatre company dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ artists and providing a home for unheard storytellers and activists. We believe theatre has the power to transform lives and build bridges, and are committed to producing socially-conscious plays by queer playwrights that examine and uplift stories in our communities.

By showcasing the diverse experiences of LGBTQ+ people, Alternative Theater Company aims to foster empathy and understanding, and to inspire a more just and equitable world. We would love to see you at one of our upcoming projects.

We recently closed world premier production of SONDER, a new play by Joe Marshall. The first production will be a limited run, get tickets now.

It's August 2021 in New York City, one year after the COVID lockdown. Following CDC guidance due to an uptick in positive cases, Mayor Bill de Blasio announces that masks will be required beginning August 16th. After already being isolated for months, four gay friends meet for an afternoon of cocktails, where the isolation quickly blurs the lines between love, sex, lies, jealousy, friendship and murder.
