Alternative Theatre Company is looking for non-equity male actors (21-60) to join the cast of the Off-Broadway play "A Waning Gibbous Moon" by Joe Marshall, opening October 2024 on Long Island.

Auditions for "A Waning Gibbous Moon" will be held on August 19-20, 2024, from 7pm-10pm, at BACCA Arts Center in Lindenhurst, Long Island. This will be a cold read from the script. To request sides in advance, please submit your headshot below.

About "A Waning Gibbous Moon"

 

Mark, a young gay man and professional dancer, shares a Sutton Place Apartment with Stan, an interior designer. On the hunt for true love, Mark rejects an opportunity with fellow dancer Rick, and Cooper, an older straight friend who Mark secretly dreams about. When he finds himself in what he believes is unrequited love, the only fulfillment Mark finds is in his dreams, where he enjoys private intimate dances under a waning gibbous moon.

 

"A Waning Gibbous Moon" is a romantic comedy from award-winning playwright Joe Marshall. It's a play with integrated dance, a full expression of dialogue and movement, where the dancing pushes the narrative forward and is an integral part of the overall production.

"A Waning Gibbous Moon" originally opened Off-Broadway at The Players' Theatre in NYC on December 5, 2019.

Roles

​

Mark – Lead. Male, 22-37. Must be a strong dancer. Gay, strong-willed, attractive, sharp witted. Appears in almost every scene of the play. Must be comfortable with same sex kissing and male to male intimacy, appears shirtless and in underwear in a short scene.  

Rick – Supporting. Male, 18-30. Gay, attractive, kind, good comic timing, strong dancer. Must be comfortable with same sex kissing. 

Cooper – Lead. Male, 41-50. Bisexual, masculine, attractive, pot smoker, some light dance. Must be comfortable with same sex kissing, male to male dancing and being shirtless. One short underwear scene.
