About "It's All About the (S)ex"
When Trevor, a struggling playwright in the heart of New York City, discovers his long-time boyfriend's infidelity, he flees the city's chaos for the supposed tranquility of a remote bed and breakfast. Seeking solace and a fresh start, he instead stumbles into an unexpected labyrinth and a charming and enigmatic stranger who sparks a flicker of hope for a new love.

However, Trevor finds himself unable to fully escape the ghost of his past relationship. He dives headfirst into a whirlwind of casual hookups, each encounter more hilariously disastrous and absurd than the last. His quest for Mr. Right quickly descends into a comedic nightmare, awkward encounters, and cringe-worthy mishaps.
As Trevor navigates this chaotic landscape of modern dating, he must confront his own emotional baggage and learn to trust again. Will he break free from the cycle of self-sabotage and embrace the possibility of a genuine connection? Or is he destined to remain lost in the labyrinth, forever chasing fleeting moments of desire?
"It's All About the (S)ex" is a witty and insightful exploration of love, loss, and the search for connection in a world obsessed with instant gratification.

Roles

Trevor - (Male, 29-37) (Male presenting) A playwright whose promising early career has stalled. He remains an outsider in social situations, his awkwardness a barrier to forming meaningful connections. He uses humor as a defense mechanism, deflecting attention from his own vulnerabilities with a mix of self-deprecating dad jokes and obscure pop culture references. Though he craves intimacy, he finds it easier to connect with characters on the page than with people in real life.
David - (Male, 28-35) (Male presenting) Always has a mischievous glint in his eyes and a quick smile. A playful charm. The life of the party, always cracking jokes and keeping things light. He's fiercely loyal to Trevor and their friendship and would do anything for him. Beneath his jovial exterior lies a sharp mind and a surprisingly insightful observer of human nature. He's not afraid to offer a witty observation or a well-timed jab, that’s not always with affection and good humor.

Jay - (Male, 35-45) (Male presenting) David's husband. Jay is a ruggedly handsome man who exudes masculinity. He has a strong, athletic build, weathered features. He might have a close-cropped beard or a five o'clock shadow that perpetually graces his jawline. Despite his outward toughness, Jay has a warm and loving heart, especially when it comes to David. He's fiercely protective of his husband and their relationship, and he's not afraid to show affection. He might have a booming laugh and a playful sense of humor, often teasing David with a twinkle in his eye.
Chuck - (Male, 22-29) (Male presenting) Strikingly handsome with a disarming smile. He has the kind of looks that turn heads wherever he goes. Sharp jawline, tousled hair, and eyes that seem to hold a hint of mischief. Chuck is charming and charismatic, the life of the party. He's quick-witted and funny, able to effortlessly charm people with his conversation. Beneath the surface, however, lies a manipulative streak. He knows how to use his charm to get what he wants, and he's not afraid to play on people's emotions to achieve his goals. He can be selfish and inconsiderate, often putting his own needs above others. While he might not be intentionally malicious, his actions can often hurt those around him, especially those closest to him like Trevor. Chuck, still harbors feelings for Trevor, or perhaps he enjoy.
Stan - (Male, 45-55) (Male presenting) Chuck's new boyfriend. His physique leans towards the stout, a testament to his love for the local pub and its accompanying libations. Stan's voice booms through any room he inhabits, often punctuated by pronouncements and opinions delivered with the subtlety of a foghorn. He's the type who'll tell you exactly what he thinks, whether you asked for it or not, accompanied by his booming laughter.
Taylor - (Male, 21-25) (Male presenting) Handsome with a classic, timeless look. Warm eyes, a genuine smile, and a neat, possibly slightly rugged appearance. His style leans towards comfortable and practical rather than trendy. A true gentleman with a strong moral compass. His kindness is evident in the way he interacts with people. Taylor has a deep sense of faith and spirituality, though it's not necessarily tied to a specific religion. He finds meaning and purpose in connecting with something greater than himself, whether it's through nature, meditation, or acts of service. This spirituality guides his actions and gives him a strong sense of inner peace.
The Dates - (Male, 18-55) 18-55 (Male Presenting) Jake, Brandon, Rick - these are great community theatre roles for aspiring actors.
