About "FRUITCAKES: The Musical"

It’s Christmas in 1927 in Greenwich Village, and the only thing more tightly packed than the fruitcakes are the secrets! Rob and Tim are busy "playing house" in their cozy apartment, but the holiday peace is about to be shattered by an avalanche of overbearing mothers, eccentric uncles, and neighborly drama. Between a bold red davenport and some very pointed waltzing, these two bachelors must decide if they’re ready to stop hiding and finally serve up some truth. Grab a seat for this festive musical romp where the family ties are tangled, the romance is fiery, and the ending is much sweeter than a holiday dessert!

Roles

CLARA: (22-32) Tim’s younger sister. The Modern "New York" Woman. Sharp, capable, and protective. She is married to Devin but retains her independence. She is observant and quick-witted, often stepping in to defend the boys against Martha’s prying. She represents the acceptance and "swank" of the city’s younger generation.

  • Vocal Part: Ability to hold a mid-range alto/mezzo harmony.

KEN: (22-32) (Rob’s younger brother) The Musical Neighbor. Playful, oblivious, and rhythmic. He lives next door to Sheila and torments her with his ukulele playing (unintentionally), but is perfectly charming to Rob and Tim. He is a "college boy" type—eager, slightly goofy, and speaks in heavy 1920s slang ("Give it the berries!").

  • Vocal Part: Tenor (or High Baritone) Approximate Range: C3 – F4

Performance Schedule

Wednesday July 15,  1:00pm - 9:00 pm rehearsal with full cast from 1:00-4:00. A break for dinner and pizza will be provided.

Invited audience at 7:00 pm

Prior to July 15th sporadic music/vocal rehearsals with cast members based on availability either in person or via video call.
