Alternative Theatre Company Announces 2026 Production of SONDER by Joe Marshall
LINDENHURST, NY — Alternative Theatre Company (www.alternativetheatrecompany.com) is proud to present its upcoming production of SONDER, a dark comedy/thriller written and directed by acclaimed playwright Joe Marshall.
Set in August 2021 in New York City—one year into the pandemic as Mayor Bill de Blasio announces renewed mask guidance—SONDER follows four gay friends gathering for an afternoon of cocktails after months of isolation. What starts as a long-awaited reunion quickly unravels into a high-stakes web of love, sex, lies, jealousy, friendship and murder. Blending sharp wit with suspense, the play dives into the psychological toll of isolation and the complex secrets people keep from those closest to them.

Joe Marshall is an award-winning playwright, director, and the Artistic Director of Alternative Theatre Company. His writing credits include Off-Broadway hits such as The Gayest Christmas Pageant Ever!, A Night in Vegas, Dirty Secrets, and A Waning Gibbous Moon. Marshall is known for creating original, character-driven works that elevate LGBTQ+ stories with honesty, quick wit, and deeply relatable characters.
